The mission of the Public Works Department is to deliver reliable and cost-effective services that preserve the Town’s infrastructure and promote a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Guided by a commitment to service, stewardship, and accountability, the department works diligently to protect the community’s assets while supporting the overall quality of life for all who live, work, and visit the Town.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Town’s streets, right-of-ways, public parking areas, sidewalks, and facilities. The department also provides essential support to ensure that Town-owned properties and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for residents and visitors.

Their duties include the following:

  • Maintenance and repair of Town facilities, including: Town Hall, Police Department, Community Center, Holly Ridge Municipal Park, Liberty Fountain, athletic fields, and Morris Landing Pier.
  • Maintenance of all grass areas on Town-owned properties and right-of-ways.
  • General road maintenance on Town-owned streets, including curb cuts, painting, patching, exploratory digs, and sinkhole repairs.
  • Biannual debris pickup throughout the Town.
  • Ensuring proper stormwater flow by keeping drainage ditches clean and clear.
  • Executing abatements for cited nuisances.
  • Delivery of garbage and recycling carts to residents.
